You've spent this module learning to see the GAP differently.

You discovered that:

The GAP is not what's wrong with you.

You learned to recognize its three dimensions:

Identity. Capacity. Productivity.

You began identifying where your greatest GAP may be.

And you learned the process we use to cross it:

Clarify. Catalyze. Connect.

But all of that raises another important question:

WHERE IS THE JOURNEY LEADING?

We don't cross simply for the sake of crossing.

Growth has a destination.

Development has a purpose.

And what is being discovered and developed within you is ultimately meant to become something through you.

At GAP Crossers™, we describe that destination with three words:

EXTRAORDINARY. ABUNDANT. CONTRIBUTION.

These aren't three trophies waiting at the end of the journey.

They describe an increasingly aligned way of living.

Let's look at each one.

EXTRAORDINARY — DISCOVER WHAT IS DISTINCTIVE

When we use the word extraordinary, we aren't suggesting that your goal should be to become more important than someone else.

Extraordinary isn't about superiority.

It's about distinction.

There is a particular combination of design, experiences, abilities, interests, relationships, perspectives, values, and developed capacity represented by your life.

No one else has lived your exact story.

No one else sees through precisely your combination of experiences.

No one else expresses what you carry in exactly the same way.

Some of what makes you distinctive may already be obvious to you.

Other parts may have become so natural that you barely notice them.

And still other parts may remain undiscovered.

That's why the journey begins with Identity.

Extraordinary begins when you stop trying to become a copy and start discovering what is uniquely yours to carry.

The question becomes:

What is distinctive about the way I have been designed to contribute?

ABUNDANT — DEVELOP WHAT YOU CARRY

Discovery alone isn't enough.

Something can exist as potential without ever becoming fully developed.

That's where abundant enters the journey.

We aren't using abundance merely to describe having more possessions, money, opportunities, or accomplishments.

Those things may sometimes be part of someone's story, but abundance is much larger than accumulation.

Abundance is about capacity.

It is developing what is within you so that more of it becomes available for meaningful use.

More wisdom.

More skill.

More resilience.

More creativity.

More confidence.

More healthy relationships.

More resources.

More emotional capacity.

More ability to lead, create, serve, build, communicate, solve, teach, encourage, or influence.

The question isn't simply:

How much can I get?

It becomes:

How much of what is within me can be developed and made available?

That's a very different kind of abundance.

CONTRIBUTION — GIVE WHAT YOU CARRY SOMEWHERE TO GO

Then comes the destination toward which the other two are moving:

Contribution.

Identity without contribution can remain self-discovery.

Capacity without contribution can remain unused potential.

Eventually, what you discover and develop needs somewhere to go.

Into a person.

A family.

A classroom.

A company.

A neighborhood.

A community.

A creative work.

A product.

A service.

A conversation.

A cause.

A problem waiting to be solved.

A need waiting to be met.

A possibility waiting to be built.

Purpose doesn't end with asking:

“Who am I?”

Eventually it asks:

“What can become possible for someone else because I was here?”

That's contribution.

EXTRAORDINARY + ABUNDANT + CONTRIBUTION

Now put the three together.

EXTRAORDINARY
Discover what is distinctive within you.

ABUNDANT
Develop the capacity to carry and express more of it.

CONTRIBUTION
Connect what you carry with people, places, problems, and opportunities where it can matter.

Notice how closely this parallels everything you've already been learning.

Identity → Extraordinary

Capacity → Abundant

Productivity → Contribution

And our crossing process supports the movement:

Clarify → Catalyze → Connect

These aren't separate ideas.

They're parts of the same journey.

PURPOSE MOVES OUTWARD

There is an important progression happening here.

At first, purpose can feel intensely personal:

Who am I?

What do I want?

What am I good at?

What is possible for me?

Those are necessary questions.

But eventually purpose begins turning outward.

Who can I help?

What can I improve?

What can I create?

What problem can I help solve?

What can I give?

Where can what I carry make a difference?

The journey begins with discovery of self, but it doesn't end there.

Purpose becomes most powerful when what is extraordinary within you becomes abundantly developed and meaningfully contributed.

THIS IS NOT A FINISH LINE

There isn't a day when you arrive and announce:

“I'm finished. I have completely crossed the GAP.”

Because every new level of discovery can reveal another GAP.

Greater Identity clarity may reveal Capacity that needs development.

Greater Capacity may create opportunities requiring new levels of Productivity.

Contribution may expose you to people, problems, and possibilities you couldn't previously see.

And suddenly you're standing at another edge.

That's not failure.

That's growth.

Crossing one GAP changes your location.

And from your new location, you can see farther.

This is why we call ourselves:

GAP Crossers.

Not GAP Crossed.

The journey continues.

DISCOVER

Take another look at these three words:

EXTRAORDINARY

What do I already recognize as distinctive about the way I think, create, relate, solve, communicate, serve, lead, or contribute?

ABUNDANT

What within me would I most like to develop more fully?

CONTRIBUTION

Where would I love to see what I carry make a meaningful difference?

Don't try to create a polished purpose statement.

We're not there yet.

Just notice what comes to mind.

REFLECT

Complete these three statements:

Something extraordinary I am beginning to recognize within my design is...

Something I would like to develop more abundantly is...

One way I would love for my life to become a greater contribution is...

Now look at all three answers together.

There may already be a thread connecting them.
